The “chemin des Treilles” was one of the alleys of Reine Margot’s garden and became the “Rue de l’Université” in the 17th century. This quarter of Saint Germain des Pres was fist inhabited by Dominican, Carmelite and Visitation convents.

In 1685, the building of Pont Royal shortened the way between the two banks of the Seine River and caused a considerable development of this part of the city. In the 18th century, during the Regence, the place fulfilled its development and became the centre of elegance and good taste.

When entering the hotel, begin your trip through time, art and history.

Here at the hotel, the reception area, the lounges and the crypt get ancient furniture. The hotel itself offers a delightful antique decor with vaulted ceilings, oak pillars, magnificent staircases and fireplaces which all recall the Benedictin convent it used to be. A surprising collection of antiques, knick-knacks, armchairs and sofas put the finishing touch.

Our receptionist, coming from Italy, is someone important for you: he is the one who will welcome you when arriving in the hotel.

He will show your room, who will indicate where is our home –style breakfastroom, behind the curtain.

He can also book for you shows or restaurants…

The Musée du Louvre, situated at the heart of Paris, is the biggest Parisian museum ans one of the greatest in the world with its 160 106 m².

The Musée du Louvre owns 300 000 works of art and more than 30 000 are exposed. The rest of the works are exposed in the Musée d’Orsay for the period from 1848 to 1914 and to the Centre d’Art Contemporain Georges Pompidou for the period from 1914 to nowadays.

The Musée du Louvre underwent a total renovation in 1981 and the construction of the pyramid that ended in 1993 gave a younger aspect to the museum.

The Musée du Louvre is starting a great period of modernization; new architectural project, renovations, multimedia guides, access t everybody… Until 2020, the works will be numerous in order to turn the Louvre into a vanguard museum.

In order to highlight some collections, the museum is starting the renovation of three spaces. The first, gathering the 18th century furniture, was not included in the works of the Grand Louvre. Thus, it will be modernized and brought to standards.
The Greek, Etruscan and Roman antiquities will be rearranged in a new circuit and the Cour du Sphinx will be entirely renovated.
Finally, the nine rooms of the Sully wing sheltering 17th and 19th century French and British paintings will be reorganized and connected better to the rest of the museum thanks to different footbridges.

The works that already began and those to come for the realization of the vast project “Louvre 2020” concern different steps and places. If some of them will be spectacular – like the creation of a new department of Islamic Arts in the Cour Visconti – some others will be more unnoticed but they are fundamental for the modernization and the evolution of such a museum.
Thus, the opening to disabled people and the installation of a multimedia guide show that the Louvre is perpetually moving and that its aim is to renew constantly.
At the center of cultural initiatives more than ever, today the Musée du Louvre wants to spread its radiation and is developing two annexes: one in Lens and another in Abu Dhabi.
Result of the cultural devolution and democratization, the project Louvre-Lens will enable to present the works of arts of the museum in the region Nord Pas-de-Calais.
After an international architecture competition that began in 2005, the project management of the future museum was won by a Japanese team. The opening is planned for 2010.

This one-time suburb [faubourg] of Paris is located on the Left Bank, across the Seine from the Tuileries. It runs along the southern shore of the Seine, in the 7th and 6th arrondissements, and consists of the area east of boulevard St-Michel as far as to include the Musée d’Orsay. It stretches some 4 to 5 blocks to the south, including boulevard St-Germain and several blocks to its south.

It is bordered on the north by the Seine, to the east by the Invalides & Tour Eiffel Quarter, to the south by the Luxembourg Quarter and to the west by the Latin Quarter. The intellectual center of gravity, of this quartier of bistros, bookshops, coffee-houses, galleries, nightclubs and publishing houses, is at the intersection of rue Bonaparte and boulevard St-Germain. This is the location of the Café Les Deux Magots [frequented by the writers of the "Lost Generation" of the 20s and 30s, and by the post World War II Existentialists], the Café de Flore and the Brasserie Lipp.

St-Germain’s more interesting structures are the Cour du Commerce St-André, the Cour de Rohan, the Ecole Nationale d’Administration, the Institut de France, the Palais Abbatial, the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, the Théâtre National de l’Odéon and the St-Germain-des-Prés church. Some of its more interesting streets are boulevard St-Germain, the rue du Dragon and the rue de l’Odéon. Its museums include the Musée Eugène Delacroix, the Musée Nationale de la Légion d’Honneur, the Musée de la Monnaie and the Musée d’Orsay.

The French National Assembly (French: Assemblée nationale) is the lower house of the bicameral Parliament of France under the Fifth Republic. The other is the Senate (“Sénat”).

The National Assembly consists of 577 members known as députés (deputies), each elected by a single-member constituency through a two-rounds system. 289 seats are required for a majority. It is presided over by a president (currently Bernard Accoyer), normally from the largest party represented, assisted by vice-presidents from across the represented political spectrum.

The term of the National Assembly is five years; however, the President of the Republic may dissolve the Assembly (thereby calling for new elections) unless he has dissolved it in the preceding twelve months. This measure is becoming rarer since the 2000 referendum reduced the President’s term from seven to five years : a President usually has a majority elected in the Assembly two months after him, and it would be useless for him to dissolve it for those reasons.

The official seat of the National Assembly is the Palais Bourbon on the banks of the river Seine (48°51′43″N 2°19′07″E / 48.861899°N 2.318605°E / 48.861899; 2.318605); the Assembly also uses other neighbouring buildings, including the Immeuble Chaban-Delmas on the rue de l’Université. It is guarded by Republican Guards; huissiers oversee the operations inside the meeting amphitheatre and in other facilities.

Following a tradition started by the first National Assembly during the French Revolution, the “left-wing” parties sit to the left as seen from the president’s seat, and the “right-wing” parties sit to the right, and the seating arrangement thus directly indicates the political spectrum as represented in the Assembly.
