This much-loved Parisian summer event will enchant you from July 18th to August 19th, 2018. A month of free screenings featuring a carefully chosen cinematographic selection awaits you on the lush green lawn of La Villette. This year’s theme is ‘How about singing?’, so you can expect plenty of musicals, music biopics and movies in which music plays a larger than usual role !

A wide-open space for a gigantic season of cinematic sensations

The tradition has lasted for 28 summers and seems to get better every year ! The immense lawn of La Villette is transformed into a giant cinema, attracting movie buffs from far and wide. Attendees have the choice of spreading a blanket on the grass or renting a deckchair on site. This year, the song is in the spotlight during 25 unforgettable evenings that will honour musicals and films in which music is heavily featured. Come along and enjoy Jacques Demy’s The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, François Truffaut’s Jules and Jim, Alain Resnais’ Same Old Song, Jean-Luc Godard’s Pierrot le Fou or more recent gems such as Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha, Anton Corbijn’s Control and the karaoke version of Damien Chazelle’s La La Land

This open-air cinema event is a great opportunity to see the work of movie legends such as Catherine Deneuve, Jeanne Moreau or two of the biggest stars of Hollywood’s golden age, Marilyn Monroe and Robert Mitchum, in the famous 1954 western River of No Return, directed by Otto Preminger.
