A trip to Paris in September; heritage and beautiful surroundings

Enjoy the soft hues and gentle ambience of Paris in September. European Heritage Days and some enchanting places will make your trip an unforgettable one.

The rich heritage of Paris in the spotlight

On September 16th and 17th, 2017, the 34th edition of European Heritage Days comes to Paris. A wealth of monuments, museums, parks and other places are open free of charge, including some that are not usually accessible to the public. In Paris and throughout the Ile-de-France, nearly 1,500 sites and buildings participate in the event, revealing to you their secrets and treasures. This is a golden opportunity to get to know the historical and social context of each building and location. The Arc de Triomphe, the Senate, the National Archives and many more history-steeped or contemporary buildings await. The choice is yours.

Three suggestions of fascinating places to discover in Paris.

The Guimet Museum, opened in Paris in 1889, boasts one of the largest collections of Asian art in the western world. Founded by the industrialist and extensive traveller, Emile Guimet, it houses the items he brought back from his expeditions in Asia. A wing of the museum, the Galeries du Panthéon Bouddhique, displays nearly 250 objects of Japanese origin. A pleasant and exotic place with a charming garden.

The Hispano-Moorish-style Grand Mosque of Paris is a real palace of Scheherazade, with its intricate decorations, tranquil gardens and dreamy fountains. After admiring its beauty you can enjoy a relaxing moment in the hammam amidst warm vapours and a delightful setting.

The Chalet des Iles on the Ile de la Muette is a little piece of paradise. Boat trips, the chic ambiance of the restaurant and bucolic terraces invite you to relax in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne. You can enjoy quality French cuisine in the evening as a couple or with your family at lunchtime.
