Upcoming trade fairs not to be missed this Autumn in Paris

At the Hotel de l'Université we are very excited about the wide range and undeniable quality of the upcoming trade fairs that will be gracing the capital over the next couple of months. As Paris settles into a mellow autumn the events schedule seems to be busier than ever, so to make it a little easier for you to decide what to do, here’s our selection. This month you can succumb to the temptations of chocolate, focus on photography and, if nautical matters float your boat, set sail for the Porte de Versailles!

Delights of cocoa at Salon du Chocolat

With two entire floors devoted entirely to the delights of chocolate and cocoa, the Salon du Chocolat comes to the exhibitions halls Porte de Versailles. The 20th anniversary edition of the world’s largest chocolate show takes place from October 29th to November 2nd and features more than 200 exhibitors plus pastry chefs from all over France and the rest of the world. In addition to the exhibitions, discussions, demonstrations and workshops, you can enjoy the all singing, all dancing Cocoa Show, illustrating the traditions of the world’s cocoa producing countries. Then, whatever you do, don’t miss the Chocolate Fashion Show, featuring the world’s most amazing edible couture.

November, month of Photography in Paris

November is the Month of Photography in Paris, with three major events dedicated to this art form. Paris Photo, at the Grand Palais from November 13th to 16th, is one of the world’s premiere events dealing with works in the photographic medium. The Salon de la Photo, from November 13th to 17th at the Porte de Versailles, offers a great opportunity to discover and try out new products, see exhibitions and buy equipment. Fotofever Paris deals with the collecting and appreciation of photographs and takes place at the Carrousel du Louvre from November 14th to 16th. Further to these temporary exhibitions, photography enthusiasts will wish to visit La Maison Europeene de la Photographie. This is a leading centre for contemporary photographic art, with a vast amount of archival materials for your perusal, including prints, digital works, films and books. Here, too, you can view temporary exhibitions. The work of the Spanish photographer Alberto Garcia Alix is in the spotlight until January.

Nautic Show for boating enthusiasts

Let us return to the Porte de Versailles for our final recommendation this month. The Nautic Show is a major event for boating enthusiasts, divided into three main areas of interest; Sailing & Tourism, Motor Boating and Equipment. From December 6th to 14th there will be around 785 exhibitors showing their wares. The 1,200 boats on display will include nearly 200 new models. Brand new this year is the innovative concept of an indoor marina in which you can view many of the craft as though they were being shown at a floating show. Don’t forget to catch the stand-up paddle boat race along the Seine, open to 400 competitors, and a lot of fun!
